What I have come to learn about being an author who writes contemporary novels with young adult themes is that India can’t be boiled down to just one aspect of life or culture because there are so many different layers that make up this beautiful country.

I liked how the characters all interacted with each other throughout this novel. I was able to connect with them on different levels in order to help me learn their personalities more.

The plot was interesting because it had a lot of twists and turns. It is not like most love stories where things happen easily for the main character. Things happen that are hard for Maya to deal with throughout this book, which made her seem very real.

I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to read about strong women. I like how Maya had many different challenges in her life and was able to remain strong throughout it all.
